6GB Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Coming to China on August 26
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with 4GB RAM was released early August with specs its biggest rival, iPhone, does not have. Now, folks from PlayfulDroid reports that the 6GB and 128GB storage variant of the Galaxy Note 7 will be launched in China during an official event on August 26. Samsung has started sending out invites for the launch.
Earlier this month, Galaxy Note 7 with 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage was spotted on Chinese certification site, Tenaa. According to Samsung’s mobile division’s president Koh Dong-jin, “It is true that we are reviewing the rollout of a new tablet with 128-gigabyte built-in memory in China because Chinese companies are aggressively doing marketing with high-capacity memory,” Koh said, reports Korea Herald.
Samsung Products, Chinese Market and the Spiral
This move is aimed at getting a foothold of Samsung products on the Chinese market. According to latest reports from market analytics companies like IDC, show that the South Korean consumer electronics giant is even no longer in the top 5 smartphone vendors in China, the largest mobile market in the world.

Chinese OEMs are the first to come up with smartphones with 6GB RAM and it appears Samsung needs a similar device to stay relevant. Vivo, OPPO, LeEco and a few other brands already have smartphones with 6GB RAM in the market, and according to Antutu benchmark, these Chinese brands top the list of the fastest devices in the world.
6GB Samsung Galaxy Note 7, What we Know
The 6GB Samsung Galaxy Note 7, according to the report, may not be available to other markets even though it is purported to be exclusive to China. Koh has admitted that this might end up disappointing its South Korean consumers. However, there has been no official confirmation whether this 6GB RAM variant of the phone will make its way to other countries.
As per specifications, the 6GB Samsung Galaxy Note 7 model is extensively bumped compared to the default model as it features a 6GB RAM together with a 128GB onboard storage inside its memory compartment. Besides that, the phablet is also implanted with a hybrid SIM/microSD tray which allows the device to support up to 2 SIM cards at one go.
Unlike other Galaxy Note 7, the 6GB version will run on the Snapdragon 820 SoC instead of the Exynos 8890 as well. That being said, we also do expect it to come with a much higher price tag too. The smartphone is expected to cost up to $912.
Note also that, Galaxy Note 7 has been launched in India and the phone has been priced at Rs. 59,900. The phone will become available in the country from September 2 in Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, and Black Onyx color variants.
Meanwhile, we will have to wait and see if Samsung would launch a 6GB RAM variant in South Korean market to please its local customers or make the phone variant available in select countries or even keep the variant exclusive to China.
