Android Nougat Release Date Very Likely Monday, August 22

Nougat, Google’s latest Android Operating System release date could be as early as next Monday. The final developer preview is already available to the public and I’m sure Nexus owners are eager to take their first bite. This date also lines up with the preview program for Korean LG G5 owners.

Nexus devices: Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, and Pixel C devices, as well as General Mobile 4G [Android One] devices gets the first taste of Android N experience followed by other manufacturers and devices.

But an updated schedule released by Canadian cellular provider Telus, Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X users could be getting their hands on Android 7.0 Nougat on Monday, August 22.

Until Google makes the final announcement, nothing here is official. However, Telus release dates for Android have been accurate in the past, so there’s no reason to doubt the company this time around.

In case you missed out on the latest info on Nougat, reports has it that the latest version of Android OS has newly added features such as Quick Settings, enhanced notifications, support for multiple windows and new emojis. It will also impose boot checks as a way of detecting malware quickly, making a phone infected with various malware unable to boot, or start in a limited-use mode if you want.

If you’ve got a recent flagship phone, you should be in luck. Most manufacturers try to push the sosftware to phones and tablest that are less than two years old, but it may be quite a wait. Though, Sony Xperia Z3 users are already enhoying Android N developer preview update on their devices.

Each manufacturer, like Samsung, Sony, LG, and other hardware will have to wait for the OEM to test and customize the updates. Take Android Marshmallow for example, some phones still don’t have the update even though it’s been out for nearly seven whole months now.

If you want the latest software, it’s best to get a Nexus device as the newest version of Android will always be pushed to that first. However, to make things even easier for developers — and adventurous users — you can now update your Android devices to the Android N developer preview using an over-the-air update through the new Android Beta Program.

Meanwhile, Discussions ranging from new Android plans to details of the preview were held in a Reddit Ask Me Anything session by Google engineers in July. The engineers mentioned that the company has been in collaboration with other OEMs concerning the final developer preview in order to have their updates ready on time.
