BlackBerry DTEK60 Rumors, Release Date, Price and Specs
About 3 weeks ago, the Blackberry DTEK60 leaked online and now, more details of the upcoming device continue to pop up all over the web. This further confirms earlier reports that Blackberry Argon, one of the three Android phones been built by Blackberry, is coming as DTEK60.
Though Blackberry has confirmed it will no longer produce its own devices, marking the end of another Blackberry era, BlackBerry CEO John Chen doesn’t see it that way at all. He prefers to view it as the start of a new chapter and the new license agreement with PT Tiphone Mobile Indonesia Tbk will make sure of that, with the DTEK60 in view.
Blackberry DTEK60 Rumors
Just recently, the Blackberry ‘Argon’ landed at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and WiFi Alliance sites. The FCC is an agency responsible for ensuring that devices sold in the US that use radio frequencies — like phones — operate without causing harmful interference and WiFi alliance promotes Wi-Fi technology and certifies Wi-Fi products if they conform to certain standards of interoperability.
This means DTEK60, the follow-up to the DTEK50, would be the struggling company’s third phone powered by Google’s Android mobile software. At the FCC, the device has been registered under the model number BBA1001 but at the WiFi Alliance site, the device shows as both BBA1001 and the DTEK60 confirming the naming convention across the board.
The filings, which depict the mind-numbing results of a series of tests conducted on the device, include its specific exterior dimensions but there’s not a lot of further info to be gleaned from the filings as they’re not all public, but it does add further confirmation the DTEK60 will be released.
Soon After, a GCF certification with info similar to the one gotten from WiFi Alliance was spotted online and still, not much could be gathered from it. The Global Certification Forum (GCF) is an independent certification scheme for mobile phones and wireless devices that are based on 3GPP standards.
Evan Blass, famous for his leaks was not left out in the yet-to-be-announced DTEK60 gradual unveiling. Also known as @evleaks, he shared a fresh new promotional image for theDTEK60. Based on the shared image, the DTEK60 could look exactly as speculated.

Meanwhile, another image popped up and this time around courtesy of the folks over at WinFuture.de. While not as clear as one would hope, the latest round of images reveals a nice look at the BlackBerry DTEK60 from all angles. See photos below:
On October 1st, NCIX website reportedly listed the DTEK60 as available for pre-order. This is not the first time an unannounced flagship device will be going live on preorder. Why rumors of Apple’s iPhone 7 was making the rounds, pre-orders was listed in Dubai. I will suggest not taking them up on their offer, considering the handset remains unofficially announced as of yet.
DTEK60 Specifications
Bearing similar features with Alcatel’s Idol 4 Pro – same reference design from Chinese manufacturer TCL, BlackBerry, however, has stepped things up to give the DTEK60 some individuality. The specifications gathered so far are as follows:

The DTEK60 operation system was confirmed by WiFi Alliance listing which showed the devices running Android 6.0.1, so in other words, no Android 7.0 Nougat as of yet.
DTEK60 Release Date
Officially, Blackberry has not made any announcement for the release of the DTEK60 nor pricing details but given all the information that has popped up in the past few days, WinFuture noted that per their information, the BlackBerry DTEK60 could arrive on October 11th.
Other retailers such as Direct Dial are also starting to list the device as coming soon, so we’ll see if that October 11 estimated date holds true or if that’s just some placeholder date that’s just been tossed around.
DTEK60 Pricing
Also from WinFuture, the Blackberry DTEK60 will be coming with a pricing set at $699 CAD, which roughly translates to around $530 USD. Of course, with DTEK50 selling at $299, $530 would be a rather weird pricing and it would surely be adjusted, so I’d hold off on making any judgment on the pricing until it’s officially announced.
