Instagram finally Introduces “ Save Draft ” Option for all Users

The picture-sharing app, Instagram has finally rolled-out Save Draft option for all users. At a time when new messaging apps are been rolled out and incumbents getting new features, the Instagram’s new ‘Save draft’ feature is a welcome development and a life saver.

After a successful testing since July this year, the new feature is now to be made available to the iOS and Android apps and will allow users save copies of posts they are working on, in order to complete them later. The user base response seemed to be quite positive, thus motivating the company to officially make it available to all its users.

This addition means you’re now able to begin working on a post, then save a copy of your changes to be completed later. This option appears when you hit the “Back” button in the app, after adding effects, filters, your caption or a location to your photo – something that would have previously discarded your edits.

How to use Instagram Save Draft Option

  1. Tap at the bottom of the screen, then take or upload a photo or video
  2. Add effects, filters, a caption or your location
  3. Go back to the filtering and editing step; then tap the back arrow in the top left
  4. Select Save Draft at the bottom of the screen

However, you’ll only see this option if you’ve made changes to your photo, meaning you’ve edited it, tagged someone, or added your caption or location.

To return to your work, you’ll tap the Camera icon at the bottom of the screen, then tap “Library.” Posts will appear at the bottom below the title “Drafts.”

Instagram has previously stated that it is ‘always testing new ways to improve the Instagram experience,” and this seems to be a step in the right direction.  Apps like Twitter and Facebook has similar Save Draft option. For example,  Facebook Page admins can schedule posts for pages, which allows the opportunity to manage posts in line with the busy schedules of many of its users.

Instagram’s new feature, however minor, seems to be focused on a similar objective and will be beneficial for brand account managers to prepare posts in advance and post at their convenience.
