Leaked Blackberry DTEK60 Specs Surfaces on BlackBerry’s Own Website

Specifications of a leaked Blackberry DTEK60, the yet-to-be-announced successor of Blackberry DTEK50 surfaced briefly and visible on BlackBerry’s website. Though the document has been removed, this further confirms earlier reports that Blackberry Argon, one of the three Android phones been built by Blackberry, is coming as DTEK60.

A specification page over at BlackBerry, funnily enough, marked as “donotpublish.html“, reveals the DTEK60 will have a larger screen, faster processor, and gain a fingerprint sensor — a first for any of BlackBerry’s Android-powered smartphones, including the more expensive BlackBerry Priv.

According to ZNET, Blackberry’s spokesperson provided the following statement on the leak “We are not making any product announcements today, but will keep you informed of future updates. We appreciate the interest for BlackBerry solutions and products.”

Bearing similar features with Alcatel’s Idol 4 Pro – same reference design from Chinese manufacturer TCL,  BlackBerry, however, has stepped things up to give the DTEK60 some individuality.

The upcoming BlackBerry third Android smartphone is a touchscreen phone with a high-resolution display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a USB Type-C port, among other things.

The page also lists specifications for the 5.2-inch DTEK50 that was launched earlier in the year. This model doesn’t feature the fingerprint scanner of its rumored larger sibling, and the listing also notes the lower 13-megapixel rear camera resolution. Overall the DTEK60 looks to be a slightly higher specced version of the DTEK50.

Last year, BlackBerry finally decided to join the Android train. It launched its first Android-powered flagship, Blackberry Priv, but the price tag was a major concern to many lovers of the BB OS. The leaked Blackberry DTEK60 will join its predecessor to bridge the gap between security and affordability.

The leaked Blackberry DTEK60 reveals that the phone will likely ship with Android 6.0 and BlackBerry’s custom suite of Android apps including BlackBerry Keyboard, Hub, Contacts, and more.
