You Could Win $1M in the UAE Artificial Intelligence Robotics Competition

In his commitment to support innovation in the area of artificial intelligence and robotics, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has launched the second edition of the Artificial Intelligence Robotics award. The winners will be honored at a special ceremony in Dubai.

The award offers a first of its kind global platform to encourage research and development in artificial intelligence and robotics relevant to several sectors in the society, such as – education, health, and social services.

Participants are required to submit their videos and proposals using the online submission form. Individuals, groups, universities or companies can apply and submit up to three entries.

However, a project leader must be nominated. They can also consist of as many members as are required, however only four members of each team will be eligible for sponsored travel if selected for the semi-finals.

The semi-finalists will then be brought to Dubai to present a working prototype, and to give a live demonstration of their ideas in front of the panel of judges, which will include specialists in artificial intelligence and robotics. The members of the panel of judges will be announced at a later date.

Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, said the UAE looks to artificial intelligence and robotics as a strategic and promising sector. Such competitions will help share experiences and raise the level of innovation, particularly in the student community.

“We expect that the national universities will play a major role in the success of this global event by encouraging students to be involved in research and development, and compete with the most advanced universities and research institutions in the world,” he said.

The proposals will be reviewed by a panel of global experts, following which 10 applicants from each category in the international and national competitions will be selected for the next round, which will be announced later this year.
