Acer Chromebook R 13, Biggest 2-in-1 Convertible PC Up for Pre-order
The new Acer Chromebook R 13, the biggest convertible Chromebook to date, has just gone up for pre-order at a few different locations on the web. So, those of you itching to run Android software on ChromeOS should check out the new 2-and-1 device from Acer.
Google announced back in May it would begin letting Android developers support ChromeOS starting in the fall. Though an Android-based PC in final stages will be released soon by the tech giant, the Acer is one the first device makers to produce a laptop-tablet hybrid that fits the bill.
The R 13 convertible notebook sports a 13.3-inch touchscreen display, which can be folded to an angle of about 360 which gives up to 4 usage modes, the notebook has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS display with multi-touch support. This makes it suitable to run all variety of mobile apps.
Powered by a MediaTek MT8173C quad-core processor, the Chromebook R 13 is supported with 4GB of RAM in 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of solid-state storage varieties. It also features a PowerVR GX6250 graphics.
Other features on the R 13 convertible notebook includes an HDMI port, Bluetooth 4.0, a USB Type-C port, a USB 3.0 port, 802.11ac WiFi, the device is said to weigh just 3.3 pounds making it a less heavy and much easy to convey about.
On the other hand, the Acer Chromebook R 13 will be coming with a large 4,670 mAh battery that is believed to last up to 12 straight hours. It should be noted that at the moment, the few places that seem to be carrying the Chromebook for pre-orders are charging more than the stated retail cost of $400, but not by much.

Those who are interested in grabbing an Acer Chromebook R 13 2-in-1 Convertible PC, can pick the 64GB storage model from B&H Photo for around $429.99, or TigerDirect Business for $441.99. PC Connection has the Chromebook R 13 (32GB model) for $405.48.
The ones listed for pre-order are the 32GB and 64GB options, with the best value being the model from B&H photo as their pre-order states that it’s for the 64GB storage model. Although PC Connection is charging the least amount, you still only get 32GB of storage for that price, and for just $25 more you can double the space.
While pre-orders are now live, there is still no exact date for the release of the Chromebook R 13, but it does begin shipping next month, so the official launch of it just around the corner.
